Bromont, montagne d'éxperiences
Bromont, montagne d'éxperiences, is a very unique ski resort, located in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, only an hour away from downtown Montreal. Bromont offers over a hundred trails on 7 sides of the mountain. The sheer number of trails, and possibilities to descend the mountain are overwhelming. Bromont also offers the largest night skiing domain in North America, with 7 sides illuminated on certain nights for skiing under the stars, occasionally well past midnight.
The Mountain and the Ski Trails
Once the skiing starts, even beginners will feel safe and welcome. Bromont has a unique beginner mountain called Mont Soleil, separate from the main mountain. A magic carpet and a quad chairlift welcome the novice skiers on its easy and intermediate trails. There are even beginner glades to try and enjoy. These trails are also surrounded by many mountainside homes and condos.
Moving beyond Mont Soleil, you are next met by the Versant du Village, the main side of Mont Brome, which presents the highest vertical drop at Bromont of 380 meters. Trails here offer challenges for all skill levels, from the World Cup trail, to Cowansville and Brome, there is definitely something to enjoy by all. The mountain has a unique summit area, where three of the main lifts meet. The summit, while smaller compared to Tremblant or Mont Sainte-Anne, has a unique feeling in that you do feel like you are at the top. The descents start as soon as you get off the chairlift. You can easily see 360 degrees around the area, spotting other ski mountains in the distance, sometimes even as far as Vermont. Looking at the trail map, you quickly realize that most trails are named after Canadian cities or towns, as well as the USA and beyond. The challenge is to conquer the trail named after your home town or city. The Versant du Village is served by two parallel lifts, providing access to the summit. The first a hybrid combination lift (6 passenger chairlift and 8 passenger gondola), and the second a quad chairlift.
There are 5 other sides to Bromont, which include the Versant du Midi, Versant du Cote-Ouest, Versant des Cantons, Versant des Épinettes and Versant du Lac (which features its own base lodge and parking facilities). Each one offers something different, from more glades, to natural snow, from trails that are straighter, to others with many turns and dips. Combined with world-class night skiing, you have unlimited choices to explore, day or night.
The Versant des Épinettes is the best-kept secret of the mountain. The trails here are unlike the rest, with lots of turns and slopes, several in natural snow. Many trails give you views of the other summits of the mountain, and make you feel like you are in Europe, as the resort is truly expansive.
From the well-designed service buildings, including the restaurants, bars and lodges, and the sizable parking lots, the base area is ready to meet your needs.
Bromont even brings the night skiing experience to new heights, during "Les Nuits Blanches", lifts close at 2 am, and the evening is filled with parties and themed events.
Bromont is known for its snow conditions and grooming. Twice a day, the majority of the trails are groomed. This ensures that the slopes are in top condition for the night skiing crowd, who often suffer at other resorts. The Corduroy, as the snow is often referred to, is made to perfection, and maintained with elaborate grooming strategies. Most main trails are re-groomed throughout the day, ensuring good conditions day long and also for those arriving at night. Bromont guarantees their ski conditions, meaning that if you aren't satisfied within your first 30 minutes, you can go back to customer service and they will exchange your lift ticket for a future visit to the resort.
