What’s New, a Stunt and a Few Resolutions at Mont SUTTON in 2019

The ski season at Mont SUTTON started on November 24, with the best opening in the last 20 years. This season also kicked off with nearly 1.5 million dollars invested in maintenance equipment, improvements to the snowmaking system, and other additions in every department. January 1, 2019 was celebrated in an entirely unique way at the mountain with exceptional activities and resolutions for all!

Amazing Start to the Season and Still Snow on the Mountain Today

The days go by, and not one day is similar to the last… but what remains true is that there is often more snow on the mountain than in town! The ski season started on November 24, and by December 1, Mont SUTTON was able to offer 100 % of its terrain to skiers. Despite the recent changes in weather, the amount of snow on the mountain is quite surprising. As we mark the start of 2019, Mont SUTTON has already received over 2 metres of snow since its opening. Pictures on the resort's Flickr account provide a good account of the conditions day after day. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

A Mountain that Keeps Improving

In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, nearly one million dollars were invested to improve the snowmaking capacity once again this season! New stationary and mobile snow guns, improvements to the automated snowmaking system… and $500,000 for a new winch tower to allow grooming on steeper terrain that is more difficult to access.

The rental fleet has been entirely revamped in partnership with Atomic for skis and ski boots and with K2 for snowboards and snowboard boots. The mountain carefully selected high-end equipment for the satisfaction of its customers. Even helmets and poles were carefully chosen for the experience. The rental centre itself has also been entirely reorganized to get customers on the trails more quickly.

In the past few years, millions of dollars have been invested in: touring trails, new grooming equipment, snowmaking, a magic carpet for the bunny hill, a precision Wintersteiger machine to tune skis and much more.

Mont SUTTON's project to diversify activities across four seasons will continue to be carried out in the next few years. The success of mountain biking and camping at the top of the mountain is a great example of potential development that is in line with the resort's values. The management team is currently working with consulting firms to create a strategic development plan for the next 15 years. Mont SUTTON: a mountain to watch, because many things are coming!

New Year's Celebration!

The first days of the New Year is always one of the least busy days during the holiday season…Mont SUTTON's skiers will have, in addition to the fun they had, been twice rewarded. This January 1, 2019, Mont SUTTON was one of 12 resorts across the world to offer skiers on the first chair of the New Year a pair of skis from Fischer – simply for being on the slopes!

At noon sharp, Disaronno was there to offer a New Year's Day cocktail.

2019 Resolutions

With every New Year comes a few resolutions. Mont SUTTON has a solution for those who are looking to place physical activity at the top of their priorities: the Monday or Friday Pass for only $ 171 + tax. In addition, many other activities will allow skiers to enjoy more of winter at Mont SUTTON. From January 8 to February 14, skiers over the age of 50, men and women will each have their own day for $ 30 + tax: 50+ Club, "Suits and Ties" Wednesdays and "Divas on Skis" Thursdays…

For the occasion, with each lesson taken during the "Suits and Ties" Wednesdays and the "Divas on Skis" Thursdays, $ 5 will be donated to Prostate Cancer Canada or the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
