What's New For 2017-18 Ski Season

I just saw the latest news for the 2017-18 ski season posted and I just thought for me, that if I hear of anything new on my part as I do snoop around quite a bit for anything like this, be it in Quebec or the New England States I will post my discoveries here.

Magic Mountain, VT is installing what I understand is a double chair to compliment their Black and Red double chairs. The "new" chair project actually started back in the early 2000's but never was completed. This "new" double chair is supposed to be operational by this upcoming season to allow them to open more terrain earlier and to offer more early season variety. There is a link on Facebook for more info.

Whaleback, NH is supposed to finally install their t-bar this off season and upgrade their snow making system as well. They are currently in a fundraising campaign mode to raise the funds for the work to be done. The t-bar was purchased last year and was refurbished.

Burke Mountain, VT is replacing the Pomalift with a Leitner/Poma t-bar and widening the trail where the racing team trains. This is to be completed for the new upcoming season.

If I hear of anything more during the summer I will post it.

Sugarbush, VT: Received their permits to replace the Sunnyside lift and Village lift with new Dopplemayr fixed grip quad chairlifts.

Whaleback, NH: Continues prep work for their t-bar installation.

Magic Mountain, VT: Continuing work on their Green Double chair project. New haul cable ordered, painting chairs, rebuilding tower assemblies, and gear box refurbish. The 1982 Borvig double was the former Betwixed double from Stratton, VT.

Other than Stoneham, QC I have not heard of any other new lift installation in Quebec.

Mont Avalanche in the Laurentians is performing major renovations to their chalet this summer. The work has begun on the cafeteria and bar areas along with building a new terrasse. The heating and cooling systems, along with the roof are also being redone. Work should be completed sometime in October.

Here is the news clip fro the Journal de Pays en Haut for reference.
