Paul
Today was parent volunteer day for my son Lukas' ski outing for school, and of course I couldn't pass on this opportunity to go with them. We met at his school for us to board the bus to head out. We arrived at Orford just a little after 9:30 to a bluebird sky, and mild temperatures. There was a good group of students that came along for the trip with a few teachers, and parent volunteers. We got settled in the chalet in our area, and got ready to go. After helping some of the students for their rentals, and their boot fitting, it was time to meet up with the group instructors. Once everyone was grouped up, it was pretty much free time for us to enjoy the morning. By then it was about 10:15. I met up with my long time best friend Christian, and spent the morning skiing. The conditions were amazing! Coverage was excellent considering the weather we had recently. I was hard pressed the find any ice patches were I skied. I didn't notice any! The Hybride, Giroux North, and the Alfred Desrochers lifts were spinning. Giroux East was not operating today. The warm up lap was on the Familiale, a nice easy cruiser on Giroux, and then up the Hybride for the 4km, and then on Grande Coulee which I haven't skied yet this year until today. The Familiale, 4km, and Grande Coulee: Taking my time on each run to enjoy the mashed potato snow, and sun, it was time to meet up with the groups for lunch time. After lunch it was time to meet up with the instructors for the afternoon lessons, and a little more free time to ski. A few more runs up Giroux North, and then it was time to get the rentals, and RFID cards handed back so we would be ready on time at 2:30 for the bus back to the school. We had a great group of students, teachers, and parent volunteers today for the trip on such a beautiful mild day. Thank you to Mont Orford for hosting us, and a great day was had by all. Matteo C
Looks like the conditions were perfect Paul! Orford looks like such a great mountain, I definitely hope to ski it someday! Shane
Paul
@Matteo C oh they were! One of the best Spring skiing days in awhile. I shed my ski jacket for the afternoon as it was nice and mild. Long sleeve shirt with a layer underneath. I didn't get to the Alfred Desrochers lift this time. It is my favorite lift on the mountain. With the brooks starting to open it makes for a soothing ride up. There are a great variety of trails at Orford and I'm pretty sure you'd like them.
