Paul
In a report in the Peterborough Examiner found this morning, has a story on Devil’s Elbow Ski Area closing after 54 years of operation. The details are that the area had been up for sale for he past few years, but no buyer has stepped up to purchase the ski hill. The area opened in 1963 has 14 trails and 6 lifts, and is located in Bethany, Ont. The realty listing has a purchase price of $2.9 Million and includes everything. Shane
Very unfortunate news. The place appears to have quite the descent size. 4 quads in addition to other chairs and surface lifts. At $2.9 million it would seem like quite a reasonable deal for a well setup mountain. Hopefully it can find new ownership to continue operating. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
Gordo
This sale could be a direct result of climate change over the last couple decades. The hill is fairly far south with not a lot of elevation. I'm sure their ski season has gotten shorter and shorter or at least far more unpredictable. Places like Blue Mountain can manage because they have high tech snow making and other activities to keep clients busy. I think we may see a lot of small family run hills close in the next few years. Paul
To soften the blow on losing Devil’s Elbow this upcoming season, Sir Sam’s Ski And Ride have extended a special offer to Devil’s Elbow 2017-18 seasons pass holders for the upcoming ski season. Details of this special offer can be found on Sir Sam’s website. http://sirsams.com/special-message-devils-elbow-patrons/#.W6jeG3JE2hA Link to comment
