Paul
Some sad news to report from Ski Val-Mauricie as they have lost their main chalet to a fire last evening. Station Plein Air Val-Mauricie is located in The Mauricie region of Quebec just north of Trois Rivières. It hasn’t been determined yet whether the fire had started inside or outside the building. The flames spread quickly, totally destroying the building. 30 firefighters spent a good part of the evening battling to extinguish the blaze with assistance of a mechanical shovel to knock the building down. The chalet is a total loss. At the moment the fire is being looked at as suspicious and the file has been transferred to the Sûreté du Quebec for investigation. There are about 60-80 kids that attend summer day camp there and the organizers are looking into a Plan B to possibly transfer them to the park on Île de Melville for the summer. Inside the chalet were bmx modules that were stored there that are a total loss.
