This topic is for those wanting to announce where they are heading next to ski or snowboard. Perhaps others may be heading to the same mountain, and you may find a buddy to share the slopes.

Hallmark Channel made a movie called Two for the Win. Interestingly enough, it was partially shot at Calabogie Peaks, Mount Pakenham and Camp Fortune. Kunstadt Sports also supplied a lot of the outerwear and hardgoods for filming. Might be worth checking out. Here is a Behind the Scenes look, with a lot of locations I'm sure you will recognize.

They anticipate having 2 trails and 2 lifts open. This will include Pineault and Marshall offering a bit of a spread of skiers rather than all in one place.

Today I received an email from the maneige group in regards to the upcoming season for the Ski Passe-Partout discount card offered in Quebec. This year with the Covid-19 pandemic being present, and with the measures being put into place for he upcoming season, the Passé-Partout program will not be issued with a plastic card like in years past. It will be distributed virtually with a bar code that you may present on your smartphone, or by printing it. This will be for all maneige's line of products this season. in addition to this, maneige will be launching an online store to pre-purchase your tickets, and to apply the discount during the transaction before arriving a…

Montreal’s South-West borough has decided not to renew the agreement which allowed Pente à Neige to offer urban skiing at the Ignace-Bourget Park. Considering how Pente à Neige is exceptionally well placed as a “feeder hill“ teaching a new generation of skiers I think it would be very unfortunate to lose this community resource. A petition has been started requesting an administrative review. https://en.penteaneige.ca

We started discussing the possibility of closures in the east in Northeast Skiology just yesterday. Now, two mountains have closed, one in Massachusetts, and one in NY. Anticipate more to follow their lead. I didn't think this would happen for another few weeks. Social distancing now. #iostoacasa I anticipate Alterra and Vail to follow suit...since they already have their money in the bank from all those Ikon and Epic sales. https://berkshireeast.com/the-resort/blog/statement-on-covid-19?

News out of Cape Bretton, or more specifically Ingonish, NS is that Ski Cape Smokey has been sold by the province to a New York investor. The hill had been operated by the province under a volunteer group since 2011 to keep it open in a limited format with the Poma lift being its main lift. There is a quad chair that has not been in service for quite sometime and is beyond refurbishing. The plan calls for a major renewal of the mountain and its facilities, and a realignment of parts of the access road. The main goal is to have Cape Smokey a major destination for visitors who are travelling the Cabot Trail as a 4 season attraction. Below is a link to the article from …

There is news out of Rangeley, ME concerning the future of Saddleback, Maine's third largest ski area that has been sitting idle for the past couple of seasons. http://www.pressherald.com/2017/06/27/saddleback-reaches-historic-deal-for-resorts-future/ Saddleback has been closed for the past 2 seasons with financial issues and a much needed upgrade to their lift system, that they could not proceed without the necessary funding. The current owners announced back in 2015 that they needed to come up with $3 million for a new chairlift or close the mountain. The mountain has been sitting idle since then. There had been a deal in place at one time but it had fallen t…

Not quite breaking news as it has been thrown around for a little while now, but Val St-Come is getting a new detachable six-pack chairlift this summer. Speculation is it will replace the existing triple chairlift and be a Doppelmayr. What is not clear is whether it will be extended to reach the top of the 1000 Feet section to provide easier access. On the trail map below, the triple chair is "B". The map does not paint a clear picture so see further down a screen capture of Google Earth. As you can see here, the existing triple chair I have marked with a yellow line. The red circles are the top and bottom bullwheels of that lift. The yellow line exte…
