Mont Bellevue

Mont Bellevue is a small community ski area located in the heart of the City of Sherbrooke, about 150 kilometers east of Montréal, a drive of just over an hour and a half to get there. The mountain offers great terrain for the beginner and intermediate skier. 11 trails are available serviced by a fixed grip Quadruple chairlift, along with a Pomalift, and beginners Magic Carpet. Snowmaking covers the entire mountain to ensure optimal coverage and to offer the best conditions possible. Night skiing is offered on all 11 trails from Monday to Saturday. The hill closes at 5pm on Sundays.

Mont Bellevue also offers a few kilometers of trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing with equipment rentals possible for these activities through the rental shop. There are a couple of tubing runs as well serviced with a handle tow, and a skating rink is available behind the chalet. Hiking is also available during the winter months on marked trails.

The Mountain and the Ski Trails

The trails at Bellevue are numbered and not named. 5 of the 11 trails are Intermediate and 6 are Easy, and are truly well groomed for the best conditions. There are no Black Diamond trails and no mogul trails at Bellevue, but on trails 5 and 6, you will find the snow park and its jumps and modules. The majority of the skiers are young children, teens, and young families from the area. The chalet houses the Boutique with the ski lesson registry desk, rental and repair shop, and locker area on the first level. The ticket office is on the main level as well, but tickets are purchased from the windows outside. Upstairs you will find the cafeteria and sitting area. The cafeteria offers the usual fast food, hamburgers, hot dogs and soups to refuel with.

Out front of the chalet you will find the Pomalift which will swiftly bring you to the top of the mountain and will give you access to all the trails. When you keep to your left, you will access the trails available that will bring you back to the chalet, or if you keep to your right, you will access trails that will lead to the bottom of the Quad and the snowparks. There is a traverse trail off of trail 3 that will lead back to the Chalet and Pomalift. In front of the Chalet you will also access the Magic Carpet lift that runs parallel to the Poma.

The tubing area is situated alongside the chalet in its own section and consists of 2 runs, and a handle tow to pull you up to the top, or a walkway for those who like to walk up. Tickets for the tube area are available at the ticket windows outside where you get your lift tickets.

Unique Features

One truly unique feature to Mont Bellevue is the illuminated cross that sits atop of the mountain that towers over the lift operators building, and can be seen for miles around. When you arrive in Sherbrooke along the Autoroute, you will see it and all you have to do is follow your way there. The view at the top of the mountain is one that looks out over the city and Lac des Nations, a small lake located in the middle of town.

On Wednesday night it's Ladies Night when the ladies ski free for the evening. Friday is Polar Bear Night where you can ski for the evening for $7 and Saturday Night is Men's night where the men ski free for the evening.

There are quite a few options for lodging in Sherbrooke to choose from within minutes from the mountain should you be coming in for an overnight stay.

There is a two-tier pricing structure at Bellevue. Residents of Sherbooke with proof of residency will ski for a bit less than non-residents. Even with this pricing format, your lift ticket will still fall a bit under $20 for a full day adult lift ticket for a non-resident.

Why visit Mont Bellevue?

Being that it is the smallest area around, and doesn't offer any Expert terrain, Mont Bellevue offers the beginner an excellent opportunity to practice their skills within a safe environment and not worry about being crowded doing it. The intermediate skier will also be satisfied here as well. It is a great area to go to after a day at work or to head to after supper for a couple of hours of skiing. It offers skiing at a very affordable price and you won't be breaking the bank doing so.
