de l'Ile Pathway - Gatineau : June 24, 2012

24june2012-shane{ }

This BIXI adventure installment takes us along the de l'Ile pathway in Gatineau. This pathway begins at Laurier and Allumetieres in Hull, and continues on into Gatineau Park. Running more or less parallel to Allumetieres, we go through several residential areas, along a nice path lined with trees and lights.

Continuing on till we join up with rue Berri. Following this North, we eventually arrive at rue Caron, and turn right to find ourselves at the Les Galleries de Hull mall and the local BIXI station of this area. Being the Quebec National Holiday, the mall is closed but the ice cream store is open, providing a tasty treat to refresh while we take a momentary break.

Leaving the mall, we head down towards another pathway that brings us back towards Allumetieres and the same area we began our adventures. Pressing on past our starting point, we revisit part of the Voyager pathway, that runs by the Marina, underneath the Alexandra bridge and behind the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

Something that quickly becomes apparent after several rides in Gatineau this year is that there are a multitude of pathways and networks available to cycling enthusaists. Many lead straight into Gatineau Park, where you are awarded with the endless discovery of adventure, in some of the most scenic and picturesque settings of the National Capital Region.

To learn more of the pathways and cycling networks available, pick up a cycling map. Or consult Google Maps with the Bike Path option selected at the top right. You will quickly see that the hardest thing about cycling is picking the journey you want to partake.

We want to hear about your adventures and experiences. You can share them on our new forums, or through our new Share your Adventure page. It only takes a few minutes.
